Diana L. Vargas has been upped to vice president and general manager at Fox-owned KTTV in Los Angeles from her VP-general sales manager position, to succeed Jim Burke, who recently was promoted to executive VP of sales and marketing for Fox Television Stations Inc.

Vargas has served in her general sales manager post since 1994 and has been with KTTV more than eight years, joining the station in August 1988 as a local account executive. She moved her way up to national sales manager in February 1990 and local sales manager in April 1991 before being promoted to her current position.

She worked at KCOP as a local advertising account executive before joining the Fox outlet.

The promotion makes Vargas the second woman heading up a network owned-and-operated station in L.A. The other is KNBC’s Carol Black.
