Universal Studios On-Line, a division of Universal Studios New Media Group, has signed a production agreement with Sausalito-based Cybernautics. The Web content-development firm will have access to Universal’s catalog of intellectual property that’s available for new-media development.

Cybernautics will open an office on the Universal lot, where it will work with the studio to identify and create new-media concepts, develop audiences for the new content and help identify sponsorship opportunities. Exec producer Janet Padlad will lead Cybernautics’ development team. New Media Group VP Jay Alan Samit and marketing VP Lisa Crane will head up Universal’s efforts.
