Writer Tom Sierchio (“Untamed Heart”) will develop Touchstone Pictures’ “Love on Trial,” to be produced by Gary Foster and Mark Steven Johnson; Howard Deutch (“Grumpier Old Men”) is attached to direct.

Sierchio will write “Love on Trial” after he completes the script “Strangers in Between” for Touchstone, part of a development deal with the studio. “Strangers” is about a young boy who lives in an abusive foster home and witnesses a murder. The murderer kidnaps the boy, but is caught in his own dilemma when he realizes the boy is dying. David Hoberman is attached as producer.
Director Deutch and Johnson, the writer of “Grumpy Old Men” and the sequel “Grumpier Old Men,” are attached for the third, called “Grumpiest.” Foster and Lee Rich are among the producers on Mandalay’s upcoming “Desperate Measures” along with Barbet Schroeder and Susan Hoffman.
Sierchio was repped in the deals at Touchstone by Alan Gasmer, Jeff Field and Ramses IsHak at William Morris. Disney had no comment.
