MEXICO CITY — Televisa is prepping a Pan-Latino business newsnet for a March launch, and may be hunting for a partner.
Using the moniker Conexion Financiera (Financial Connection), the Spanish-language web will cover international business, with a special focus on Latin America and the Iberian peninsula, a Televisa source told Daily Variety.
The Mexican press reported Monday that Televisa CEO Emilio Azcarraga had flown to New York last weekend to meet with potential partners, including representatives of News Corp. The company source would neither confirm nor deny the report.
Televisa is already partnered with News Corp., TCI Intl., Brazil’s Globo and Latino satcaster Sky, which bowed in Mexico last month. The business newsnet will be carried by Sky and terrestrial pay systems.
Conexion Financiera is being prepared as part of a larger business news project, which will include a magazine of the same name and various online services, the source said.
