Buzz F/X, the Santa Monica-based graphics, special effects and post-production house has merged with Pacific Ocean Post, the digital post production house also headquartered in Santa Monica.
The move, announced by POP prexy and CEO Alan Koslowski, creates a new division, POP Animation, on site at the Buzz F/X facility, which is located four blocks from POP.
The merger expands POP’s computer generated imaging capabilities for film, TV and commercials.
Gilles Massinotte, Buzz Image Group president and member of POP’s board of directors, said, “This combination will allows us to offer a broad spectrum of complimentary services in the digital arena. We can consolidate production requirements under one roof and we see this as an advantage in a very competitive marketplace.”
Buzz Image Group, based in Montreal, Canada, is the parent company of Buzz F/X.
POP’s digital effects credits include the Oscar-nominated feature film “Independence Day,” as well as “Star Trek: First Contact” and commercials for Nike, Pepsi and Budweiser. Buzz F/X has effects credits on “Screamers,” “Warriors of Virtue,” and the TV series “The New Adventures of Johnny Quest.”
