Jennifer Gwartz, a production exec who led the development of Wes Craven’s “Scream,” has joined Warner Bros.-based Silver Pictures as its senior vice president of production.
Gwartz will lead the development of Silver Pictures, which is headed by Joel Silver. She joins senior VP Dan Cracchiolo — who concentrates on the production side — and vice presidents Alan Schechter, Karyn Fields and Damon Lee.
Gwartz comes from Woods Entertainment, where she was vice president of production. She had been working with producer Cathy Konrad, who produced “Scream” with Cary Woods.
“We recognized that she had a lot of talent when she was with us before, and we’re glad to bring her back at a position that she’s earned,” Silver said in a statement.
She had previously been with Silver Pictures for two years, moving from story editor to director of development before departing for Woods Entertainment. She began her entertainment career at Lorimar Television and later served as a writers’ assistant at Warner Bros. Television.
Current projects at Silver Pictures include “Father’s Day,” starring Robin Williams and Billy Crystal and directed by Ivan Reitman; “Conspiracy Theory,” starring Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts and directed by Richard Donner; and Clint Eastwood’s adaptation of “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.”
