HBO is in talks for rights to “Irish Whiskey,” helmed by Jon Stevens and exec produced by Stevens, Elvie Avilez and Chris Pilliczar. Satirical drama preemed at the recent Nortel Palm Springs Intl. Film Fest.

Sony Music Entertainment has named Marcel C. Garaud and Nadja M. Webb counsels in the law department. Based in New York, Garaud served a stint as legal & biz affairs director at EMI Music Publishing; Webb joins Sony from Weil, Gotshal & Manges.

Western Intl. Syndication has given a firm go to its second-year weekly kids series “Field Trip” for fall. The show, produced by Allbritton TV Prods. at WJLA Washington, has been sold to WABC New York, KCAL L.A. and WGN Chicago, among others.

Interaxx Television Network has named Cynthia Andreotti to the board of directors. An 18-year telco industry vet, Andreotti is senior VP, business sales and service, at MCI Telecommunications Corp.

Unapix Entertainment has tapped Paul Gasek writer-director for the original series “Endangered Species Protection Unit,” set to air later this year on Discovery Channel’s “Animal Planet” block. Filmed on location, “ESPU” is a de-tective series focusing on a team of professionals seeking to stop animal poachers in six African nations.
