Pitch room set for Cannes

In a first for American firms, at least seven studios and indie production companies have agreed to allow two hours to hear 10-minute pitches from any Cannes Film Festival attendee with a credential.

The pitch room will be set up at the American Pavilion on the Croisette. Among the confirmed participating studios are: Fox Searchlight, Paramount, Warner Bros., Universal, New Line Cinema, MGM and First Look/Overseas.

It was unclear which studio execs would be taking pitches from the filmmaking aspirants.

Interested pitchers, however, should go to the American Pavilion to sign up for dates and times.

“If you have a treatment, bring it,” said Julie Sisk, American Pavilion founder and director. “If you have a script, bring it. If you have a video, bring it. This is an amazing opportunity for new writers, directors and producers.”
