Par picks Paxton for ‘Plan’ part

Paramount Pictures has homed in on Bill Paxton to star in the John Boorman-directed “A Simple Plan” for producer Scott Rudin, sources said. Paxton would star in the dark thriller about two brothers who discover a huge sum of what is believed to be dirty money. A February start is planned. Paxton, whose credits include “Twister” and “Apollo 13,” last co-starred in “The Evening Star” for the studio and Rysher Entertainment. He will be seen this summer in Jim Cameron’s “Titanic.”
