Outer Crix bestow legit nods

NEW YORK — The 47th annual Outer Critics Circle Awards, bestowed on Broadway and Off Broadway productions by theater writers from out-of-town publications and other media, were announced Monday.

Winners included “The Last Night of Ballyhoo” for outstanding Broadway play; “How I Learned To Drive” for Off Broadway play; and “A Doll’s House” for revival of a play. “The Life” picked up the award for a musical and “Chicago” won for revival of a musical.

John Caird (“Stanley”) won for director of a play, and Walter Bobbie (“Chicago”) was voted best director of a musical.

Christopher Plummer (“Barrymore”) was the winner for actor in a play; Janet McTeer (“A Doll’s House”) for actress in a play; Robert Cuccioli (“Jekyll & Hyde”) for actor in a musical; and Bebe Neuwirth (“Chicago”) for actress in a musical.

The awards will be handed out May 23 at Sardi’s.
