Next Generation of giving

The Next Generation Council of the Motion Picture & Television Fund presented its first official donation of $50,000 to MPTF Foundation Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg Monday night at a holiday cocktail reception. The event was hosted by Elizabeth An at her Beverly Hills restaurant, Crustacean.

Among others joining Katzenberg at the event was MPTF/F board leadership Annette Bening and Warren Beatty, Jeff Berg, Darcie Denkert, Roger Davis, William F. Haug, Richard Masur, Robert Townsend, Roger L. Mayer and Mrs. Lew Wasserman.

In making the announcement, Ken Scherer, CEO of MPTF, said that, “In 1997, the average financial assistance grants given by MPTF range from $500 to $1,200. Therefore, The Next Generation Council’s contribution will enable us to provide assistance to 60 families in need.”

The Next Generation council, now beginning its second year, is represented by all aspects of entertainment, including major studios, producers, directors, writers and talent who have come together to ensure the continued support of the charitable work of the MPTF.
