NCAA ratings bounce up for CBS

The first and second rounds of the NCAA basketball tournament scored ratings improvement on CBS over the weekend.

Overnight averages from the 36 metered markets had the tourney with a 5.6 rating and a 13 share, 6% ahead of the comparable 1996 rounds and a 10% improvement from 1995. Best showing was the second-round final — the third game of a Sunday tripleheader — which averaged a 9.2/19, the highest rating since 1993. National ratings are expected today; 16 teams begin vying for the Final Four spots on Thursday.
