NEW YORK — NBC News made two expected personnel moves official Monday, giving temporary “Today” news anchor Ann Curry the permanent slot and naming David Bloom to replace Brian Williams as the Peacock web’s White House correspondent.
Curry, an MSNBC anchor since last year, has been filling in for Matt Lauer since January, when Lauer replaced Bryant Gumbel as the ayem show’s co-host. She’ll now handle the job indefinitely, having earned her early-morning stripes as anchor of the “NBC News at Sunrise” from 1991-96.
At the White House beat, Bloom takes over next week, after working as an L.A.-based NBC News correspondent, where he covered the O.J. Simpson trial and Bob Dole’s presidential campaign. Earlier, Bloom worked at NBC’s Chicago bureau and at O&O WTVJ Miami.
