Nance’s ‘Medusa’ goes mini at ABC

Mandalay Entertainment has inked a deal with ABC for a four-hour miniseries based on the John J. Nance bestseller “Medusa’s Child” for the 1997-98 season.

Nance also wrote “Pandora’s Clock” which became a hit miniseries for NBC during the November sweeps.

“Medusa’s Child,” which was published Feb. 1 by Doubleday, is about five strangers who board a cargo plane that carries an armed nuclear bomb set to go off within hours. The passengers must outwit the mastermind behind the bomb.

“We are thrilled that John J. Nance and Mandalay Entertainment have chosen to bring ‘Medusa’s Child’ to ABC,” said Barbara Lieberman, senior vice president of movies for TV and miniseries at ABC. “This is the kind of irresistible story that makes a sensational miniseries.”

“Medusa’s Child” will start filming this summer with Nance serving as a consultant. Tom Patricia will executive produce. David & Cynthia Comsky are co-executive producers; Ellen Weston wrote the teleplay.
