NEW YORK — Miramax Intl. has upped Stephen Klain to senior VP of marketing.
A veteran international marketing exec, Klain joined Miramax Intl. a year ago as VP of marketing.
“Steve’s promotion reflects his major role in strategizing and coordinating the worldwide marketing of our films and his strong relationships with our global distribution partners,” said Rick Sands, president of Miramax Intl.
A former reporter for Variety, Klain entered the biz in 1984 as an assistant at the newly formed TriStar Pictures, where he was later promoted to VP. After TriStar’s foreign operations were combined with Columbia Pictures Intel., he was named VP of international marketing for Columbia TriStar in 1988.
Klain chose to remain in Gotham after Columbia TriStar moved its international division to Los Angeles in 1992. He segued to Columbia Pictures, where he served as VP of East Coast publicity until 1995.
Before joining Miramax, Klein operated the consulting firm Kinomedia Intl. Film Marketing, whose clients included Sony Pictures Classics, Columbia TriStar Home Video and Simon & Schuster.
