Miramax Films, in a rare pitch buy, has picked up Robert Munic and Michael Seitzman’s comic pitch for Shawn and Marlon Wayans to star, sources said Friday.
Miramax paid a low six-figure sum against mid-six figures for the project.
Producers are Davis Entertainment, Richard Gladstein’s Film Colony and Gold/Miller.
Pic is expected to be a part of the three-pic deal that the Wayans Bros. have with Miramax.
Story is about two brothers from New Jersey who find themselves transported into a land where fairy tales live. Once there, they screw up all the happy endings, offsetting the natural balance of the harmony in the real world.
Miramax VP Helena Echegoyen and director of development Carol Solomon are the execs on the project.
Munic’s writing credits include an unproduced TV pilot. He also directed the feature “The Pros and Cons of Breathing.”
Seitzman helmed a feature pic called “Farmer in Chase,” which stars Lara Flynn Boyle and is currently playing.
Paradigm’s Joe Gatta and Lucy Stille brokered the deal for Munic. Wendy Niad of Susan Smith & Associates repped Seitzman.
