Live plans 12 DVD releases at $24.99 each

Live Entertainment will release 12 titles in DVD format, including blockbusters such as “Total Recall” “Stargate” “Dirty Dancing” and “Terminator 2,” as well as Quentin Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs,” at a price of $24.99, according to David Garber, exec VP of TV and new media for Live.

Garber said he expects DVD to “initially complement the current homevideo and laserdisc markets.”

In adopting DVD, Live — based on a homevid core business — is joining major studios including Warner Bros. New Line, Polygram, MGM and Sony at present.

“As an independent studio, Live recognizes the profitability of supporting new technology which will expand distribution of our assets,” Garber added.
