Jan McNally Silverman, wife of former Variety publisher Syd Silverman, died Dec. 26 at her home in White Plains, N.Y., following a brief illness. She was 67.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., she graduated from the U. of Alabama and moved to New York City, where she had a brief career as a professional model. She married in 1954, relocating the family to White Plains three years later.

Well known in social circles in Manhattan and Los Angeles, Silverman was a tireless fundraiser for a diverse set of charities, particularly hospitals and children’s groups. Among the organizations she was involved with were the Will Rogers Hospital, St. Agnes Hospital of White Plains and the Mother’s Club of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, for which she served as president.

She was also a board member of St. Vincent’s Hospital of Westchester and White Plains Child Daycare.

In addition to her husband, Silverman is survived by four children, Marie, Mark, Michael and Matthew; a sister; a niece and six grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows in White Plains with interment to follow at White Plains Rural Cemetery.
