HBO Pictures has optioned the rights to Anne O. Faulk’s debut novel “Holding Out” for Dolly Parton and Sandy Gallin’s Sandollar Prods.
Book is a romantic comedy in the vein of Aristophanes’ Greek comedy “Lysistrata.” In the new version, a female investment broker leads a nationwide sex boycott, encouraging women to withhold sex until a wife-beating Supreme Court justice is removed from the bench.
Simon & Schuster editor in chief Michael Korda picked up the publishing rights to the book, scheduled for a 1998 pub date.
The project was brought into Sandollar by Abbey Wolf; Michael Halpern will be the executive at HBO.
The mid-six-figure deal was brokered by WMA’s Amy Schiffman and Stephen Bulka, along with their New York counterpart Joni Evans.
