Gretemeyer to ankle ABC post

NEW YORK — Janice Gretemeyer, VP-media relations at the ABC Television Network in New York, is resigning from her post after a 27-year career at the alphabet web, effective May 23.

Gretemeyer, who began her career as an ABC secretary in 1970, said she plans to marry and move to Connecticut. She said she’s been “toying with this idea” for several months, but waited until her West Coast counterpart at ABC Entertainment, VP Kevin Brockman, was in place. Both report to exec VP Sherrie Rollins, who will seek a replacement.

Gretemeyer was named to her current post in 1994 from VP-director, public relations, East Coast, and was responsible for promoting network programming and other web news. She had also worked in employee communications and community affairs departments. “I feel like I’m the archivist,” she said of her long tenure.
