Golden Reel noms cite sound editing

Nominees for the 1996 Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Awards were announced Tuesday in the domestic feature, feature animation and foreign feature categories.

The awards will be presented at the 44th annual awards banquet at the Century Plaza Hotel’s Los Angeles Ballroom on March 22. The organizers expect more than 1,000 sound professionals and other industry pros to attend the ceremony.

The MPSE is a nonprofit organization of sound editors that hosts the Golden Reel Awards ceremony honoring peers for excellence in sound editing. Nominees for feature film music editing and automated dialogue replacement for feature films will be announced in coming weeks.

The nominations are as follows:

Domestic Feature: “Broken Arrow,” “Courage Under Fire,” “Daylight,” “The English Patient,” “Eraser,” “Executive Decision,” “The Ghost and the Darkness,” “The Rock,” “Star Trek: First Contact”

Feature Animation: “Space Jam,” “All Dogs Go To Heaven II,” “James and the Giant Peach,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”

Foreign Feature: “Shine,” “Michael Collins,” “The Frighteners,” “White Squall,” “Hamlet,” “Microcosmos,” “The Horseman on the Roof”
