Gheorghe Muresan, the 7’8″ center for the NBA’s Washington Bullets, will make his feature debut with Billy Crystal’s “My Giant” for Castle Rock Entertainment, the company confirmed Wednesday.
Muresan, 26, will play an innocent-hearted European big fella exploited by a wily third-rate Hollywood agent, played by Crystal.
Michael Lehmann (“Truth About Cats and Dogs,” “Heathers”) is directing from a script by David Seltzer. Crystal is also producing.
Muresan, who comes from Romania, is the tallest player in the NBA, with a wingspan of 7’10-1/2″. He has played pro ball for four years. He weighs 303 pounds, and his nickname is “Gitza,” which means “Teeny.”
Super Bowl audiences were recently tickled by his appearance in a lighthearted Snickers commercial.
