MEXICO CITY — Latino-focused production company Galan Entertainment has pacted with media consultants Frank N. Magid Associates to provide research and programming services to broadcasters and cablers throughout Latin America.

The partnership will chiefly target the growing number of programmers launching pay TV networks across the region. It will help clients develop a transnational appeal through on-air packaging, and will provide programming and distribution plans.

“The key to success in the region is the ability to package American programming specifically for Latin America as well as to create cost-effective and appealing original programs that travel well,” said Galan prexy Nely Galan, who was involved in the Latino launches of ESPN, Canal Fox, Fox Kids and Fox Sports.

“Our expertise in research, planning and practical implementation will help our clients increase ratings, ad revenues and subscriber fees,” Magid director Brent Magid said.

Galan added that many Latino terrestrial channels are becoming more concerned with packaging now that they are having to compete with cable. “We can help with on-air talent, dubbing and promos,” she said.

Also, Galan Entertainment is developing original shows, which include a pilot for “a cross between a reality show and a telenovela,” to be screened on Canal Fox later this year.
