In its first foray into film production, cabler FXM: Movies From Fox has commissioned filmmakers to direct six short films, which will premiere as part of a 90-minute short-pic showcase hosted by producer-director Michael Apted on Feb. 7.

Two of the shorts, “Better Late” (directed by Jessica Yu) and “78” (helmed by Noah Edelson) will have their world premieres at the Sundance Film Festival.

The four other shorts are “Angry Boy” (directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck), “Smoked” (from Pat Verducci), “Hope Street” (from Alexander Metcalf) and “Joe’s Gyro Palace” (made by Michael Schlitt).

The six range from three to 12 minutes in length. FXM launched in October
