CBS has cast key roles in several of its drama pilots, including its remake of “Hawaii Five-O,” “Ghost of a Chance” and “Fargo.”
Gary Busey, whose numerous screen credits include “The Buddy Holly Story” and “The Firm,” has been cast as Jimmy Burke, second-in-command of “Five-O,” who has to take over when his boss is murdered. Also starring is Russell Wong, who will play Busey’s partner Nick Irons. Wong, who starred in the firstrun action hour “Vanishing Son,” also was in “The Joy Luck Club.” “Hawaii Five-O” is being produced by Stephen J. Cannell and CBS Prods.
Virginia Madsen (“The Hot Spot”) has been cast in the CBS drama “Ghost of a Chance” from Paul Haggis (“EZ Streets,” “Due South”). Madsen will portray a ghost who befriends a 29-year-old slacker. “Ghost of a Chance” is being produced by Haggis in association with Rysher Entertainment.
CBS has also cast Edie Falco (“Laws of Gravity”) for “Fargo’s” leading role of sheriff Marge Gunderson, the role that Frances McDormand won an Oscar for in the bigscreen version. “Fargo’s” pilot is being directed by Kathy Bates and the show is being produced by Bruce Paltrow and Robert Palm in association with ITC Entertainment.
