Eleanor Prescott, senior producer for ABC News’ “Good Morning America/Sunday,” died Feb. 9 of heart failure in Bayside, N.Y. She was 50.
Prescott joined ABC News in 1979 and served as producer for “The Weekend Report.” In 1981 she was named producer for the newsmag “20/20,” producing segments on congressional pensions and tax breaks, and the readiness of rapid deployment forces, among others.
In 1986, Prescott developed and launched “Business World,” the first regularly scheduled network business broadcast.
A graduate of Barnard College (1968), Prescott began her TV career at NBC News as a writer, and later served as Washington producer for “Today.”
She is survived by her husband, Nicholas G. Garaufis, and two sons.
