Random House announced that it will publish the memoirs of Walt Disney company chairman and CEO Mi-chael Eisner, a collaboration with journo Tony Schwartz — who previously collaborated with Donald Trump for the bestselling manifesto “The Art of the Deal.”
Harold Evans, Random House’s prexy and publisher, personally will edit the book, in which Eisner will draw from his three decades in the entertainment industry. Eisner has been Disney’s topper since 1984.
Evans also edited Colin Powell’s bestselling memoirs as well as Richard Nixon’s final book.
It is not clear why Eisner went with Random House to publish his book, instead of staying inhouse with Hyperion Books; nor was information available as to whether Eisner will discuss in the book former Disney president Mi-chael Ovitz’s tenure and departure from the company.
Eisner will receive no advance or guaranteed payment, and all royalties will be donated to a special education fund for the children of Disney employees, based on merit and need.
