Paul and Chris Weitz, who are currently working on the upcoming DreamWorks animated comedy “Ants,” have signed a one-year, first-look deal with the company.

The deal involves two pictures. The first film the brothers plan to do is an animated “critter movie” comedy based on an idea by DreamWorks principal Jeffrey Katzenberg.

The Weitz brothers’ grandfather was the late talent agent Paul Kohner, their mother is actress Susan Kohner (“Imitation of Life”) and their father is fashion designer John Weitz.

The deal was brought to the company by Katzenberg and feature development exec Nina Jacobson.

“Ants,” a comedy that is set in a neurotic ant colony, is currently in production. Providing voices for the feature are Woody Allen, Sylvester Stallone and Danny Glover.The deal was brokered by WMA’s David Lubliner and Robert Stein with attorneys Linda Lichter and Spencer Baumgarten.
