Davidtz puts ‘Gingerbread’ on her plate

Embeth Davidtz, who just wrapped “Fallen” for Turner Pictures and Warner Bros., has inked to star opposite Kenneth Branagh in Robert Altman’s “Gingerbread Man” for Island Pictures.

Altman is directing from a script by thriller scribe John Grisham.

Davidtz will play a woman who claims she is being stalked by her father. When she hires a Memphis attorney to help her, she is slowly drawn into a web of danger.

Mark Burg, president of Island Pictures, will produce for Island/ Polygram. Pic is slated to start lensing Jan. 28 in Savannah, Ga.

Davidtz most recently starred in TriStar Pictures’ “Matilda” with Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito. But she first drew industry attention for her role as a concentration camp prisoner in “Schindler’s List.”

ICM’s Joe Funicello and Aleen Keshishian brokered the deal for Davidtz. She is also repped by managers Bymel/O’Neill.
