College students get crack at Forman

Two-time Academy Award-winning helmer Milos Forman, whose “The People vs. Larry Flynt” is currently in theaters, will kick off the Network Event Theater’s master director series on Tuesday, broadcast live from the UCLA campus to college campuses across the country.

The interview with Forman will be hosted by former Los Angeles Times film critic Charles Champlin, and will include film clips from the director’s career. Network Event Theater is a recently formed company, which provides programming to college audiences via its interactive network of satellite-linked theaters. Producer Jerome Hellman serves as NET’s president of programming and Susan Strong is the producer of the monthly director series.

Through its satellite hook-ups, students on 16 campuses will be able to participate in a question and answer session with Forman.

Former ICM founder and MGM exec Freddie Fields and Hellman oversee NET’s Hollywood programming division.
