BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — CNN en Espanol, Turner Broadcasting’s Spanish-lingo news net, will begin broadcasting today throughout Latin America.
The Atlanta-based service, CNN’s first foreign-lingo venture, bows with more than 10 million subscribers and will be transmitted via PanAmSat 3, transponder 1.
While some of the new subscribers are former viewers of English-lingo CNN Intl., many will have access to both nets. CNN En Espanol has secured carriage with Argentina’s largest MSOs — Multicanal, CableVision TCI and 12 provincial cable operators — and will reach 3 million subscribers.
Hard news highlights include “Ahora,” a 90-second newscast airing at the top of all half-hour feature programs; and primetime world news roundup “Panorama Mundial.”
CNN en Espanol has opened one of its four news bureaus here; the others are in Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City and Havana.
