Clear Channel affils, UPN in longterm pact

NEW ORLEANS — Clear Channel Communications has inked a longterm affiliate renewal pact with the United Paramount Network.

The deal, which covers seven Clear Channel stations, runs through the year 2003.

All seven of the Clear Channel stations are primary affiliates of the netlets. The stations are WLMT Memphis; WLYH Harrisburg, Pa.; WTEV Jacksonville, Fla.; KASN Little Rock, Ark.; KTFO Tulsa, Okla.; WJTC Mobile, Ala.; and WMTU Jackson, Tenn.

Clear Channel is the first group owner besides UPN partners Viacom and Paramount to ink longterm affiliation deals with the netlet since it launched in January 1995.

“We look forward to entering the next millennium with Clear Channel in our corner,” UPN CEO Lucie Salhany said Tuesday.
