Chan ‘Operation’ flies into Gotham

Martial arts training would have come in handy last Tuesday at the Gotham premiere of Dimension Films’ “Operation Condor” with Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan. Throngs of adoring fans lined up outside the Ziegfeld Theater, which also attracted demonstrators protesting the portrayal of Arabs in the actioner.

Chan’s arrival sparked the screams and swoons usually reserved for rock stars, and each of his onscreen stunts was greeted with enthusiastic applause.

The mayhem continued at the party afterward at the China Grill, which was hosted by Miramax co-chairmen Harvey and Bob Weinstein. Spotted in the tightly packed crowd were Chan, Jet Li, Mira Sorvino, Guillermo del Toro, Famke Janssen, Mekhi Phifer, Mary McDonald, “Kiss Me Guido” director Tony Vitale, John Waters, “Hurricane Streets” helmer Morgan J. Freeman and Malik Yoba.
