MEXICO CITY – Unapix Entertainment of New York and Centauro Comunicaciones of Colombia have partnered to form Vistapix, a production and distribution house for Spanish-lingo markets.
Vistapix will be headed by Cesar Diaz, who was recently hired by Centauro prexy Gustavo Nieto Roa to head the Colombian company’s Miami distribution arm, Vista Intl. (Daily Variety, Dec. 10).
Diaz will report to Nieto Roa and Unapix managing director Scott Hancock.
Vistapix has already acquired its first title, the 26-episode drama series “Big Sky,” from Australia’s Southern Star. Following the lives and loves of pilots, the series will be offered to Latino buyers for the first time during NATPE next week.
Vista Intl. will handle Vistapix titles for Latino buyers, while Unapix Intl. will distribute to the rest of the world.
Centauro is a Bogota-based producer of films and novelas, also operating dubbing facilities in Colombia, Brazil and Portugal. A publicly traded company, Unapix is a licensor of films for the U.S. home video market and an international distributor of films and TV shows.
