Sci-fi 'Wave' gets Greenlit

Greenlight Communications Inc. of Toronto said Thursday it has signed a deal with Frances Ford Coppola Inc., American Zoetrope and Chris Brancato to produce a weekly science-fiction TV series. Budget for the first 22 episodes of the strip, tentatively titled “First Wave,” is $18.7 million, or $850,000 an episode.

Greenlight chairman Gary Howsam said Brancato (“Hoodlums”) has agreed to write or co-write a minimum of 11 episodes. Greenlight subsid Everest Entertainment will distribute the series in North America and Pearson Television Intl. of Britain will handle the rest of the world.
