Cablers bow pay-per-pix

LONDON — Four of the U.K.’s leading cable operators have confirmed that they will launch their pay-per-view movie service in February, with films from Columbia, TriStar and Warner.

Telewest, Diamond Cable, NTL and General Cable are behind the venture, which will be marketed to cable subscribers under the brand name Front Row. The first movies on offer will include “Jerry Maguire,” “Anaconda,” “Matilda” and “Mars Attacks!”

British Sky Broadcasting already launched its rival PPV movie service Dec. 1 to satellite subscribers.
