Allison Brecker, former VP of production and development at Walt Disney Pictures, will join Universal Pictures as senior VP of production starting July 7. Her arrival had been expected.

Brecker will report to both U president of production Marc Platt and co-president Stacey Snider. The executive has experience in three different areas: feature film, direct-to-video features and syndicated television. Brecker has worked mostly with the comedy genre.

Brecker served for three years at Disney, where she worked on the studio’s summer event picture “George of the Jungle” and the upcoming Christmas release “Mr. Magoo.” She also is credited with shepherding Disney’s first live-action direct-to-video feature, “Honey We Shrunk Ourselves.”

Prior to joining Disney, she worked as VP of Stewart Pictures, where she worked on “Madeleine.” She also served as director of comedy development at Columbia Pictures Television, where she supervised the development and physical production of half-hour comedy projects, including the first syndicated/cable educational series, “Beakman’s World,” which currently airs on CBS.
