WASHINGTON- President Clinton will apparently have to celebrate his second inaugural gala without Barbra Streisand or Fleetwood Mac.
The Inaugural Gala (53rd in the nation’s history) will air on CBS on Jan.19 and will be co-hosted by Candice Bergen, Michael Douglas, Jimmy Smits and Whoopi Goldberg.
Other performers scheduled for the event include Mikhail Baryshnikov, Aretha Franklin, Kenny G, Yo-Yo Ma, Dave Matthews Band, Edgar Meyer, Sandi Patty, Bernadette Peters, Kenny Rogers, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder and Trisha Yearwood. Also performing will be the Broadway casts of “Chicago” and “Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk.”
President Clinton will be celebrating the kickoff of his second term without a ball sponsored by MTV. Tickets to the 1993 MTV Inaugural Ball were scalped for as much as $1,000.
