David Bishop has been named president of MGM Home Entertainment, reporting to the Home Entertain-ment/Consumer Products Group president Richard Cohen. Bishop, who has been exec VP of MGM Home Enter-tainment since 1994, will oversee worldwide operations of the studio’s homevideo, laserdisc and DVD product, as well as the distribution and marketing of the company’s interactive product and music catalog.
He also will be working with direct-to-video projects in conjunction with the studio’s animation unit. Projects cur-rently being planned include “Babes in Toyland,” “The Secret of NIMH 2” and the “MGM Sing-a-Long” series.
He also will coordinate marketing and distribution with various soundtrack partners with the MGM Records label. He already has worked to establish in-house distribution and marketing teams for MGM Interactive.
Before joining MGM Home Entertainment, Bishop was president and chief operating officer of Live Home Video. He worked at MGM Home Video from 1985 to 1991.
