With U.S.-based ANS Communications as a partner, German media giant Bertelsmann AG plans to expand its Internet network services into other parts of Europe and the world.

Bertelsmann’s MediaSystems unit announced Tuesday that it will, in cooperation with ANS, establish MediaSystems subsids on the national and regional levels in several European countries. The new subsids will be responsible for the design, construction and operation of private networks.

ANS, a subsidiary of AOL, currently operates Internet networks in the U.S. and Great Britain, while MediaSystems has networks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
