Alliance, Discovery pact

TORONTO — Alliance Communications Corp. has picked up exclusive Canadian rights to the Discovery Channel Video catalog of more than 100 educational titles.

Toronto-based Alliance said Wednesday that under the three-year agreement, its distribution arm, Alliance Releasing, also gain rights to new titles Discovery Channel Video puts out quarterly.

New releases this month include “Keiko’s Journey Home: The Free Willy Story”; “Galapagos: Beyond Darwin”; and four episodes of “Wild Discovery.” The existing catalogue contains “The Dead Sea Scrolls,” “The Fall of Saigon,” “Professor Iris” and “Planet of Life.”

No financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
