Leila Sorell

Leila Sorell, a longtime member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. who was a contributor to Polish, Hungarian and Czechoslovakian publications, died Nov. 17 in Los Angeles following a long illness. She was 85.

One of a family of six children born in Presov, Austria-Hungary (which became Czechoslovakia after World War I), Sorell taught grade school. After marrying, she moved to the U.S. in the early 1930s, managing to escape Europe before World War II.

She is survived by a sister.
