Bobby Helms

Bobby Helms, whose 1957 recording of “Jingle Bell Rock” became a Christmas classic, died Thursday in Martinsville, Ind., of an undetermined cause. He was 61.

The Neal and Summers Mortuary in Martinsville said funeral arrangements for Helms, who lived in Martinsville, had not yet been finalized.

“Jingle Bell Rock” was written by Jim Boothe and Joe Beal. Helms also had hits with “Fraulein” and “My Special Angel.”
