Eric Shih has been appointed general manager of the Taiwan branch of Warner Bros.’ international theatrical distribution unit.
In 1996, Taiwan was the sixth-largest international market for WB, behind Japan, Germany, the U.K., France and Spain.
Shih will report to Ivan Cheah, senior VP, Asia, for Warners’ international theatrical distribution division.
Shih joined Warners’ Taiwan branch in August 1993 as marketing manager, and rose to assistant general manager earlier this year. Previously, Shih worked as a journalist in Taipei.
Shih replaces Oliver Chen, who resigned in September to pursue other media-related ventures. Chen is the founder of Spring Cinema Agency, a Taiwan-based film distrib firm, as well as the Sun Movie Channel, a Taiwan cable channel.
