Diane Robina has been upped from VP to the newly created position of senior VP of programming for Nick at Nite and its spinoff TV Land. She will oversee program acquisitions for the two nostalgia-based Viacom-owned cablenets.
Besides programming VP, a position she has held since last year, Robina also has been manager and later director of acquisitions.
In fact, Robina’s ascension to senior VP completes an unlikely story for a woman who was originally hired at Nick at Nite after entering — and winning — a 1988 contest called “I Wanna Be Manager of Acquisitions.”
The open executive call attracted hundreds of resumes, but Robina won out. That was nine years ago.
Besides heading up programming under Nick at Nite/TV Land prexy Rich Cronin, Robina will also be in charge of research, searching out golden oldies in tandem with the Museum of Television & Radio.
