Univision taps pair net sales co-prexies

Univision Communications Inc. has promoted network spot sales prexy Tom McGarrity and KMEX general sales manager Dennis McCauley to co-presidents of network sales, the company announced Monday.

The execs will replace Raul Torano, who will remain with the web as a consultant after stepping down as prexy of network sales last month.

“Tom and Dennis have done outstanding jobs for Univision, and I am confident that network sales will continue to grow at a fast pace under their leadership,” Jerrold Perenchio, Univision’s chairman and chief exec, said in a statement.

General experience

The promotion of McGarrity and McCauley signifies the increasing integration of exec experience from general market companies to upper levels of Spanish-language broadcasters. McGarrity arrived at Univision in 1995 as a divisional VP from advertising rep firm Blair Television. McCauley was KABC’s sales manager when he was hired by the Univision O&O two years ago.

“Tom McGarrity brings to this position immense knowledge of U.S. Hispanic markets from a national perspective, coupled with extraordinary organizational skills and keen judgment,” said Henry Cisneros, prexy and chief operating officer of Univision in a statement. “Dennis McCauley’s energy has been impressive to both our advertisers and his teammates.”
