U adds Robinson as VP

Universal Pictures has hired former E! Entertainment Television exec Patricia M. Robinson for the new position of vice president of human resources.

Robinson will report to Universal Pictures CEO Chris McGurk. She’ll be responsible for overseeing and supporting all aspects of human resource functions for the studio’s motion picture division, including employee relations, staffing, leadership training and development, compensation and performance management.

“Patti’s considerable knowledge and expertise in the area of human resources make her the ideal choice for this new position, which has been specifically created to enhance the working environment for all Universal Pictures employees,” said McGurk.

Reporting to Robinson will be director of administration Pamela Speak, and administration coordinator Lori Chatterton.

Robinson joins Universal after 20 years in the human resources field, including, most recently, eight years as head of human resources for E! Entertainment Television. Before that, she worked for Times Mirror, Carter Hawley Hale and Avco, where she began her career after earning a bachelor’s degree form the State University of New York at Oneonta.
