Douglas A. Stone has been promoted to senior VP, national film settlements, for AMC Film Marketing, a division of Kansas City-based theater chain American Multi-Cinema.

In his new position, Stone will be responsible for negotiating film terms and final film settlements. He will report to Richie Fay, president of AMC Film Marketing.

Stone replaces Cathleen Fager, who recently left the company to join Polygram Films, Polygram’s new U.S. distribution arm.

Stone will remain in Kansas City, where the theater chain’s national film settlement activities will be centered. AMC Film Marketing is still headquartered in Los Angeles.

In addition, Stone will continue in his role as VP, corporate operations analyst, for AMC.

“Doug is a tenured film executive with a wealth of industry knowledge,” Faye said. “I am confident in his ability to further strengthen our film settlement process as we continue to rapidly grow the company.”

Stone joined AMC in 1989 as a film analyst. Before that, he was president of Mid-America Cinema, a 70-screen theater circuit later acquired by AMC.
