Recognizing the growing importance of the relationship between new technology and the music industry’s ability to protect and sell copyrighted music, Warner Music Group has tapped Jordan Rost for the newly created position of senior veep of new technology.
Rost, a former senior veep of marketing, will oversee WMG’s research and product development related to new technology as well as continue to be the group’s representative on the Tokyo-based DVD consortium’s Working Group.
Rost, who will be based in New York and report to WMG exec veep/CFO Jerry Gold, will also investigate business opportunities with the Internet and to expand on the group’s web sites.
Rost, an 18-year industry vet, joined the conglom in 1987 as director of marketing and new product development for Warner Communications Inc. He was named veep of marketing for WMG in 1992.
