Primestar sets exec lineup

Satcaster Primestar on Wednesday announced its senior management team to run the company pending its restructuring as publicly traded Primestar Inc.

As announced in June, Daniel J. O’Brien, currently prexy of Time Warner Satellite Services, will become prez and chief operating officer of Primestar Inc. He will be joined by Kenneth Carroll as chief financial officer, Marcus O. Evans as general counsel, Joel Ginsparg as senior VP of technology operations, Chris Sophinos as senior VP sales & distribution and Denny Wilkinson as senior VP marketing & programming.

Evans, Wilkinson and Ginsparg currently are execs at Primestar Partners LP, while Carroll and Sophinos will be coming over from TCI Satellite Entertainment Inc. (TSAT).

As part of a company streamlining, Primestar also announced it will move its corporate offices from Philadelphia to Denver, with a 50-member network operations group remaining in suburban Philly. Move to Denver will begin in early ’98, when Primestar’s transition to a public company is expected to be completed.

O’Brien said he expects to offer jobs to many of the Philadelphia-based work force, with placement services offered when a mutually beneficial match can’t be found.
